What We Investigate
A forensic investigation answers two questions: what happened to the structure, and what will it take to make it right. We investigate and evaluate:
- Damage from natural disasters — wind, snow, rain, and flooding
- Fire damage
- Freeze/thaw damage
- Impact damage — forklift, crane, and passenger vehicle strikes
- Overload — roofs, floors, and framing loaded beyond their capacity
Every investigation ends in a written engineering report that documents the cause and extent of damage, in language the people making decisions can act on.
Insurance Claim Support
When a claim involves structural damage, an independent engineering evaluation gives everyone involved — owner, carrier, contractor — the same set of facts. We inspect the structure, document what we find, and report it plainly. Curva Consultants evaluates structures; we do not act as a claims adjuster.
Many owners, especially homeowners filing their first claim, do not realize they can retain their own engineer to evaluate the damage. You can, and it is often the fastest way to get a clear answer about what your building needs.
Expert Witness
The principal engineer is available for expert witness engagements involving structural damage, failures, and construction disputes, including litigation support. The standard is the same in and out of the courtroom: independent analysis, documented findings, and conclusions that hold up under scrutiny.

How an Investigation Works
1. Site inspection. We visit the property, examine the damage, and document existing conditions.
2. Analysis. We determine the cause and extent of the damage and evaluate what the structure can still safely carry.
3. Written report. You receive a clear engineering report you can put in front of an insurance carrier, a contractor, or a court.

If any part of the structure looks unstable, keep people out of the area. Photograph the damage if it is safe to do so, and have the structure evaluated before repairs begin — repairs made before the damage is documented can complicate a claim.
